Is a swollen foot an MS problem?

Left foot and ankles are badly swollen.

  1. I'd like to know this, too...

    1. It's best to ask your doctor about the cause of your edema so they can properly treat it. I have foot/ankle edema, too, and have taken a diuretic for years. My PCP is treating it and my neuro hasn't commented one way or the other. But the condition has worsened and I've added compression socks to the treatment on the advice of my PCP. Standing/sitting a lot is the common cause for edema.

      1. Thank you Kim. I will check with my PCP. It has been bad for a three weeks now. During our entire time in Florida helping out my mother. Very frustrating and painful. I hope your edema improves! I greatly appreciate your help.

      2. sorry but what is your CPC

    2. Hi , thanks for your question! I'm so sorry to hear you are experiencing this. I can imagine that must be so painful and uncomfortable. I agree with, Kim - it's best to reach out to your doctor especially if this is a new or worsening symptom. I also found this information from the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation about swollen feet and ankles: https://www.sharecare.com/health/living-with-multiple-sclerosis/what-swollen-feet-ankles-ms I hope it's helpful to you. Thank you again for reaching out and we hope you are able to get some relief soon. Best, Shelby, MultipleSclerosis.net Team Member

      1. Thank you for your help! I will check out the link. I appreciate your help greatly! It's not a comfortable symptom. I might just check with my nero. My MS medicine may not be working.
