"I suppose I have been coping with this disease with positive thoughts, trying not to let it get me down. But when you get something new added to the complaints appear literally overnight, it is frightening. I have right sided weakness, and writing / fine dexterity in my right hand has been troubling me for several years now. But to add to this I now have developed a frozen right shoulder having experienced severe contracture of the muscles around my shoulder on several occasions of late. It is so painful it takes my breath away. I have been desperately doing the exercises my physiotherapist devised for me which is helping, and I have increased the dose of both Baclofen and Gabapentin as per my MS nurse’s advice. However this has caused the side effect of dry mouth, and I have since developed sores and blistering to the roof of my mouth. It makes me wonder what I would be without taking any medication, as side effects all list the symptoms we can feel, such as muscle pains, bone pains, fatigue, blurred vision, problem with urinating, etc. Etc. I must admit I am not so good at following a low salt / fat / diary free diet and I dont get 10 hours sleep a night, but is that because taking a pill is an easier option? It’s been so long since I have relied on my cocktail of pills morning noon and night (I have had MS for years - am now secondary progressive), but have any of you come off them all and taken to harder option instead? The pescatarian diet, 10 hour a night sleep, not over doing it in a day, refrain from any toxins - such as alcohol, tea, coffee, saturated fats, carbs - both starches and sugars including chocolate (mmmm), and taken up daily yoga / Pilates and meditation! Phew I’m exhausted just thinking about it! "
