What’s the best DMD that doesn’t cause bladder infections?

  1. , DMDs are immunosuppressants, meaning they lower the immune response, leaving us open to an increased risk of infections in general, bladder included.

The safest DMDs with the lowest number of side effects in general are the most recent ones such as Tecfidera, Gilenya, Lemtrada, etc. For more detail, talk to your doctor.

The best we can do for bladder health is to see a urologist that tracks it at last yearly. We can manage bladder health with meds, catheters, and judicious use of antibiotics. Consult your neurologist and urologist to talk about what's best for you. --Kim, moderator
