Double Vision For 15-20 Mintues A Day

Hi!
For the past 7 days I have had double vision lasting about 15-20 minutes a day. Sometimes I only have dizziness and balance issues also lasting for a relatively short time. I don’t have nausea. I usually have a tremor in both hands from a medication side effect but the tremor in my left hand is considerably worse. I have had ear ringing for about 2 months. I went to the ER last night and they ran a bunch of tests and took 7 vials of blood. Some of the things tested I won’t have until Monday. They did a head CT scan, an sinus CT Scan, an EKG and a chest X-ray all of which came back normal. Is it common for the first symptoms of MS would be the consistent short bouts of double vision? I know it can affect everyone differently but that type of double vision instances I haven’t read anywhere. Could someone please give me some insight on how the vision symptoms usually work appear? Thank you!

  1. Hi Ty3535! I am sorry you have been dealing with these issues. While I cannot offer medical advice or diagnosis, for your safety, I can say that a number of our members have shared that vision issues were one of their first symptoms of MS. That's not the case for everyone, but for some individuals, a sudden onset of vision problems has led them to seeking medical help. Here is a list of some of the more common MS symptoms, including double vision; https://multiplesclerosis.net/symptoms/. And here is a bit of information on typical MS vision issues -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/symptoms/vision-problems/. It does seem that these issues tend to present fairly abruptly and may or may not subside on their own. It really varies from person to person.

I do hope you get some answers and please keep us posted, if you feel comfortable doing so!
