Exercise

I hope you all know how critical exercise is to living with MS. I have pretty severe balance issues and had been unable to get around much without holding on to something. I accidentally got connected with a personal trainer who's mom has MS and when I was diagnosed, he immediately began working on balance with me. We do lots of core strengthening as that is what helps me get stable on my feet. And I didn't exercise at all before so I've also lost more than 20 pounds since February! I know of someone who has had MS for more than 20 years who early on did yoga and took up a new sport in her mid-40's - rowing! Apparently no one can tell she has MS and she attributes that to her frequent exercise.

  1. , I agree that being physically active is very important for living with MS. Any level of activity can help. I picked up cycling almost 6 years ago and it would be very difficult for someone to know just by looking at me that I have MS. Thank you for sharing. Best, Lisa, MS Team Member
