Feeling Cold?

Does anyone have an issue with getting cold to the bone?
I get cold and can not warm up.
I grew up in MI. Moved to TX for 151/2 yrs. Moved back to MI.
Brrr it's chilly here. I can handle 112 degree heat but if it goes below 55 I'm freezing. I'm now wrapped in blanket with warm cat on my lap.... legs are freezing 45 degrees.

I find lots of help for overheating but nothing regarding the opposite end, bone chills.

  1. Hi Tricia! I am sorry the cold is so hard on you. Although heat seems to get more attention in MS communities, I will say that I know there are a number of our members who have a very hard time with the cold, too. This article from ne of our contributors talks about his struggles with MS and the weather -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/weather-and-multiple-sclerosis-cold-hot/. While he struggles more with hot temperatures, he does discuss the affect the cold has on people with MS. If you haven't checked it out already, there is an article and conversation going on in our facebook community. It's specifically about Raynaud's Phenomena, but it might be relatable to your situation -- https://www.facebook.com/MultipleSclerosisDotNet/posts/750894671740722. If you are not on Facebook, you can find the article here -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/cold-fingers-toes-raynauds-phenomena/comment-page-1/#comments. I hope this helps! You are definitely not alone in dealing with this issue. Thank you for reaching out. We're glad to have you here! Best, Erin, MultipleSclerosis.net Team Member.

    1. Thank you for your reply.
I will definitely check it out and dress warner. 😉

sry for the late response. My brain has been playing tricks on me and I'm now happily playing catch up.

Take care and have a lovely day.

      1. you are not alone. I’m always chilly but I put on layers especially in the house and at night I have to cover up my feet with socks the ones with grips on bottom. My oldest son always come down to my basement apartment in his home and says” ma it’s warm down here. How can you stand it” I tell him it’s mom temp not sons. 😂

    2. No apologies needed, 10tricia18! There is no judgement on MultipleSclerosis.net. I hope the Michigan summer is being kind to you! Best, Erin, MultipleSclerosis.net Team Member.

      1. I was Diagnosed with Graves Disease in 2010, another autoimmune disorder. It's a thyroid disease. One of the main symptoms is a bone deep intolerance to the cold. I'm not saying that is what you have, but a lot of medications, including some that treatMS can cause the thyroid to act up in some of these ways. Might want to have your doctor check your T3, T4, and TSH levels to see if that is a possibility. Good Luck!
