Australia Immigration

Hi. New to this forum but just want to know if anyone has experienced something similar or has any advice. I’m a 25 year old man, I was diagnosed with MS at 18/19. I’m looking to immigrate to Australia as the entirety of my mom’s side of the family live there, and here in the UK it’s only my mom, dad and myself however, both my parents are elderly (62/75 respectively) and I really don’t have anything holding me here. I’m completing a degree in Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering this coming year and then hope to begin the process of moving out. My family have already said they’ll sponsor me, but I’m wondering if I will fail the medical requirements because of my MS? Australia seems to very touchy about stuff like this, just want some advice. Cheers.

  1. I would just like to add that I’m currently on Ocrevus, and I’ve no symptoms of MS and are completely healthy otherwise. I haven’t had a relapse of MS since the second year of my diagnoses. (It’s relapsing remitting). Not that I’m guessing that matters all to much. Just for context.

    1. Hi, and welcome to the community!

I have to say that I will be no help with your immigration question, as I am based in the US. I know we have international community members, including some based in Australia, and I hope they see your post and can offer some helpful feedback!

I do hope you are able to make the move and that it is a good change for you and your health!

      1. I'm from Australia (suburb of Melbourne, Victoria), can't answer this specific question but may be able to help with other ones.

        1. That is kind of you to offer, . Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
