#cooldownms

I'm 38 turning 39 next week got diagnosed in 2021. Wheelchair bound. Very weak leg muscles, struggling with the heat but surviving.

  1. #cooldownMS I get hot easily and my head starts spinning. The heat really affects my legs and head. I get really dizzy and sick to my stomach.

    1. #cooldownMS..I was diagnosed in 1992. I find that the older I get, the worse my intolerance to heat gets. It doesn't help that I have gained weight since COVID and the higher temperatures we have been having with very few cooler days. I don't drive because of the MS, I use public transportation. I'm dependent on walker for mobility because of of balance issues and loss of endurance. I'm pretty much home bound when it's warm outside because once I start getting change in body temp it doesn't go down on it's own. My legs get heavier, my feet start dragging, my mind/thoughts get jumbled and I have worsening in my cognitive deficits. I didn't spell that last word. Forgot how to years ago. 😉. I get light headed and weak and need to sit down if I am standing up. It brings me to tears sometimes when I'm way overheated. So frustrating.
I out grew my cooling vest a few years ago.
Heat is my kryptonite. Keeps me from doing things I used to take for granted.

      1. "“#CoolDownMS” The heat and humidity causes my body to feel heavier to carry. My legs become even more Spastic making it harder to walk. My feet which are already numb and Tingling become even more so. Feet feel like trying to walk with concrete shoes, legs feel like walking wood planks. I become dizzy and fatigued. I tried to enjoy the zoo with my boys before it was too hot and even milder weather is to hot for me. 80*+ I feel my family leaves me out of enjoying time with them because they don't want me to get to sick. I appreciate that but I so miss spending time with them. I need this giveaway as do others here. "#CoolDownMS"

        1. My heart aches for you as well as your family. It sucks that illness comes between us and our ability to spend time with our family the way we'd like to. It truly hurts for everyone involved. As much as they are trying to protect you, it still hurts. No one should have to deal with this and I hate that you do. I truly hope things turn around and get better for you. You're in my thoughts, Latoya (Team Member)

      2. My vision gets really blurry and I can’t read my phone. It takes awhile to go back to normal after coming back inside. I need to get my cooling vest out!
