#cooldownms

I finally got to go to two baseball games. Living in the high desert of Alburquerque New Mexico, it was a heroic effort for my husband to pull me out of our car and into my wheelchair. It was 100° with lots of sun beating down on our scalps and we still had to climb an 8° slope ramp to the get to the entrance.Thank goodness a friendly teenager helped push me up and into the wonderful dark shade of a tree. Later, on the concourse in the handicap section all went well. Yes it was hot but we were in the shade. But then, it was time to go home and that's when I found my feet totally paralyzed! The shade did not protect me from the ravishing influence of MS. Staff had to help me into the car! The staff at the game are wonderful and I can depend on their assistance when I need it. Now looking back to the second game, it was even hotter at 104°. Got up the long ramp (with husband) and onto the concourse we settled in. We had lots of water; and I took off my shoes, socks and brace to keep my feet cooler. But as the game was moving on I was feeling oddly (weak?) I can't really describe it but it wasn't good. I knew the culprit was the heat. It was 99° at 9 pm !🤯 I sought help. This time the staff made bags of ice and put them on the back of my neck and down my back. Oh yes! I recovered quickly and enjoyed the rest of the game. So now I see the need for a cooling neck brace or vest. I rest my case.
