Depression is Killing Me

I have depression most days. I've trying to distract myself, which helps, but not always. When I think I'm having a good day, then suddenly I'm suicidal. Thank God that I have never...

    1. Don't do anything silly mate. With covid life has been hard enough add ms to that and yeah it can get tough if you aren't on top of it. But life is a gift, getting onto ms forums help and it's a great place to start. Talk to others, get advice, try things and watch yourself improve. Plenty of people living successfully and wonderfully with ms It's no longer the death sentence it once was.

      1. I meet with a psychologist Friday. He was very helpful and recommended that I meet with a psychiatrist to possibly adjust my meds.

        1. That sounds great, Todd. Have you been able to make your appointment with the psychiatrist yet? I'm really glad you met with the psychologist, Todd! How are you feeling about it all? Sending lots of love. - Kayleigh, MultipleSclerosis.net team

        2. I am so glad you are seeing specialists for your depression! That's an awesome step to be taking. Studies have shown that individuals have the best results when they combine talk therapy with pharmaceutical treatment -- https://www.apa.org/ptsd-guideline/patients-and-families/medication-or-therapy.

I hope the adjustment in meds brings you some noticeable relief very soon!

Thanks for updating us and please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing! We care about you 😀

      2. I am a few months late to respond to you but have just read your post and the comments. I found that being part of a support group has really helped me. I miss the in person interactions with MS peers. Since Covid we have conversations virtually. It is invaluable to hear others with MS discuss their challenges. I feel like people with MS just get it….their lights are on, so to say. Combining that with individual talk therapy and medication will likely help. For me the combination has helped loosen the grip by MS on my soul.

        1. Well said ! As the saying goes, you don't "get MS" until you get MS. Talking with others who actually understand can be extremely helpful
