Exercise

I started a fitness program for weight loss sponsored by our local newspaper. After 2 months I had increased my 15 minute workout:
pool, stationary bike, and walking my dog 5 minutes each to 1 hour for 20 + minutes each. I had lost 17 pounds, felt good, was energized. Then on the night of March 17th I got out of bed and fell on the floor, unable to use or feel my lower body. My wife helped me get back in bed. She brought me two canes I had to use. In time I let one cane go and eventually I was ambulatory again.
I tried to read about MS exercise limitations but I was unable to find information about how much is too much.
This occurred in 2020. I have not been back to the gym but I have helped coach my Grandson's baseball and football teams the last two years. I have not reached the level of physical strength I had before my collapse but I am still able to do life skills and everyday activities. Any thoughts on limits to exercise?

  1. ,
I'm sorry to hear about your fall and how it set you back a bit.
I must applaud you for coaching your grandson's baseball and football teams; that is no easy task.
Hopefully, others will chime in here with what exercise works for them.
In the meantime, I am sharing a link to an article on exercising that you may find helpful: https://multiplesclerosis.net/natural-remedies/exercise-physical-activity
You may also want to check in with your healthcare provider (or PT) for additional help/suggestions.
I wish you all the best,

    1. Thanks for the link Doreen
I have a bucket I carry on the sideline for when my legs get weary
I coached for 30 + years. Over 20 years with MS I enjoy it so much and wanted to help my Grandsons experience sports
