High School Graduation

I was a senior in high school when I started to feel off. I felt drunk, bad balance. Had a drink at the wedding reception and felt better ! Weird. The next morning my eyes were bouncing in sinc, just bouncing. Went to MFG, was admitted, they performed a lot of blood tests, ct, mri. MS dx the next week. 5/1986, a month before graduation. I looked down at my body and decided I’d better learn to live with this. I went on to nursing school with 2 kids, graduated and worked for 33 years, and now I’m on SSD as of 08/18.

  1. wow, this is a powerful story that you share. That must have been a lot to process the diagnosis at such a young age. I really admire your mindset to focus on how you could best live with MS. Your outlook and perspective can make such a big difference on your experience with MS. (That's something that I remind myself of often!) And it sounds like that mindset served you well as you went on to become a nurse and mom of 2 kids! I'm sure that road was not easy, and still has it's challenges, but you are a true example of resiliency.

    1. Thank you, I got married and had a third child before my mom passed away 😩, she was my rock, always. Helped me tremendously, along with my grandparents.

      1. ,
I am so sorry for your loss.
What a blessing it must have been to have such a supportive Mom (and Grandparents).
We are grateful you found this community and can share your story.
