passing out

One day, I went to reach for my son's doorknob, and the next thing I knew, I was trying to get up off the floor. It's like I just passed out; when I noticed I was on the floor, I was wondering what happened. That has happened to me several times. I've had every test, and the doctors still can't find anything. This has been going on for about 4 years now. My last episode was last year; my son saw me in the garage. I never know when it's going to happen, it just happens. I don't feel any strange way before it happens or nothing. I tried getting a service dog but can't afford one. Has anyone else had this to happen to them? Could I get a service dog without paying to get it trained? This is scary to me. I need help.

  1. Hi I am sure this has been extremely scary for you. And frustrating that you do not have any answers. Service dogs are trained before they are connected with their owner. I applied to train a service dog several months ago, and I know they go through a rigorous training program before they can go to their new owner. I am sending over this link, I hope it is helpful for you: https://multiplesclerosis.net/forums/service-dogs. Please keep us posted with how you are doing. Jill (Team Member)

    1. , sorry so long. You have to pay for the graduation, the traveling for the service, and be able to keep up with the veterinarian bills, etc. I'm disabled with MS and don't get that much a month.

    2. I found this article from one of our members and how they raised money to get a service dog: https://multiplesclerosis.net/stories/service-dog. I thought it might be interesting for you to read. Jill (Team Member)

  2. Hi, so this happens to me. Not sure if your still on here or this response will come up since it's much later than your actual post. I learned I have to add an insane amount of sodium to my diet daily to stay on my feet. No one knows why it happens, no explanation. Yet I have salt packets in my car and every am make a huge mixture of salt sugar and water and down about 4 cups of it. so far so good. good luck it is so so unnerving

    1. Wow, I’ve never heard of doing the salt mix like that. What led you to try it in the first place? Did you have a conversation about your diet with your doctor? -Latoya (Team Member)
