Strangulation feeling around the neck

I'm still quite new here with this community, I have not yet been diagnosed I have my MRI in about a week. Last night I felt a very strange feeling around my neck and even after it seemed like all of my symptoms had dissipated I was wrong! I had a very very strange feeling of strangulation around my neck, and it lasted about an hour and a half. I was trying to remember if I read about this somewhere on Ms websites. And I found out that yes indeed this is considered one of the strange symptoms of MS, unfortunately! Has anyone else had this feeling?

  1. Hi . That must be a scary sensation. Have you mentioned this to your primary care doctor and/or the neurologist? I am glad you at least found that others experience it. There can be comfort in that. I hope you get responses from others in the community. Do your best to keep busy until your MRI. The busier you are, the faster time will go and, before you know it, you will finally have some answers. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Good afternoon Lori, I have read this reply and I have read other replies to people's posts here on this forum, and I have to say honestly you are such a sweetheart! Very good at making people feel comfortable with your words, your words of encouragement! Thank you so much for your kindness and your thoughtfulness. My MRI after being rescheduled two different times is now this coming Tuesday November 22nd and although it's for and with IV sedation it's really scares the hell out of me knowing that I'm going to be inside that very small area. That's kind of why I canceled the last one but I need to suck it up and get this done that way I can have some answers and hopefully get on a treatment that works effectively. And then Monday the 21st is my dermatology appointment and I have to say that I'm very nervous about this appointment. Unfortunately with all of the symptoms that I have and the changing skin symptoms that I have I do think that I also have a type of cancer, I think you were the one that told me to get this one figured out first because it weakens the immune system the chemo. Honestly speaking it scares the heck out of me! Thank you again for being you and thank you for your very kind words.

    2. You are so sweet, ! Thank you. I am glad you will be sedated in the MRI. I would have a difficult time with that as well. Small, confined spaces terrify me. But I am glad you are having it done and that you will finally get some answers. Skin cancer sound scary, but often it is easily treated. I hope the appointment goes well and that if it is cancer, it is super manageable. Keep us posted if you are comfortable sharing. You will be on my mind. - Lori (Team Member)
