MSAA’s Archived Digital Educational Program Dives Deep into MRI Comprehension

Understanding Your MRI title card for a video from MSAA discussing MRI comprehensionWatch “Understanding Your MRI” now available on-demand! This past June, the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) teamed up with Jill Conway, MD, MA, MSCE to present a digital educational program dedicated to MRI comprehension. Dr. Conway, a neurologist and MS specialist, brought her experience and expertise to life in this archived webinar by discussing the fundamentals of MRIs, how they work, and what diagnostic clues professionals look for when diagnosing a person with MS. Additionally, Dr. Conway breaks down the technical side of why MRIs can be so beneficial in every step of a person’s treatment journey.

MRIs are part of the MS journey

Diagnosis, progression, treatment – these are all points in a person’s journey when MRIs are used as a tool to not only track a person’s history with MS, but also help chart out their future treatment options. Dr. Conway discusses what a person can expect, and what one’s healthcare professional will look for during their visit to the neurologist. To give viewers an intricate look at what medical professionals see on the other side of an MRI visit, Dr. Conway shows real-life cases and MRI scans as examples and walks viewers through her thoughts as she reads them.

MRI questions

The MRI process can be very complex, confusing, and frustrating for people with MS - whether they are seeking a scan for a diagnosis, or to track disease progression. This webinar ends with Dr. Conway clarifying and answering questions to explain parts of the MRI process so that anyone who is expecting an MRI visit in the future, can enter that space feeling more comfortable, confident, and calm than before they were aware of this information.
