The don’t ask, don’t tell symptom
Let’s talk sex
Or, the don’t ask, don’t tell symptom.
Ok, now that I have your attention. I wanted to talk about one of the more rare symptoms of MS. The symptom that reduces our sex drive. Does it affect you? Do you still feel it’s urges? Or have they dwindled away to dust?
Urges are gone
For me? It’s gone. Completely. There is just nothing there. Show me a picture of a naked lady and you get crickets chirping in a field. Oh sure, I admire someone’s beauty. But do I have urges?
Nope.
My body won't let me
Of course, there is also the physical aspects to it all. Even if I did have the urges, my body would never let me. First off, let’s talk about body parts that are numb. I won’t go into specifics here, this is an audience of all ages, mind you. But yes, there are other parts of your body besides the typical hands and feet that go numb.
Low energy
Then of course the nitty gritty of it all, the business itself. Do you actually realize the amount of stress you put your body through? Think of a locomotive. The movement, the speed. Well, it takes a lot of coal to keep those engines a turning. For me, that coal bunker barely has enough coal to get me to the kitchen.
Stripped away
This disease will strip away a lot from your life. We know this first hand. But to take this away too? For me, it is sensual, to touch someone softly. To connect on a level that has no equal. It is raw, it is transcending. It is love.
But now it’s crickets in a field.
Chirp chirp chirp.
What about you?
