Holiday Time

My husband and I are going to Singapore on Friday. I am totally tired of thinking of clothes and things I need to go.

Traveling is not much fun with PPMS

I don't really want to go because this is not a holiday. My husband thinks I am weird, but he is away golfing, and I am spending my time looking for clothes to take. If he is not working, all he wants to do is go on holiday, but having PPMS, I'm afraid it's not much fun.

Traveling with a disability

Folks say you should be grateful but ironically the only one understanding me is my cousin who lost her young son last year. Traveling with a disability is a matter of luck and my husband says this is life. Yes mine, not yours.

Your very short narrative spoke volumes about how you feel and how you and your husband relate to each other. So my first question is: what do you want to do when your husband has some time off? Then: Do you even want to be with him every time he wants to take a holiday in a way that he enjoys but not you? Have you ever sat him down and talked to him about how a life with PPMS feels? If not, how does the thought of doing that make you feel? I hope you'll write more stories, trish. I'm thinking you need to, I want you to, and we all need to hear about these things from you and about you. I suspect you are a treasure. Please write more. Best, Kim, moderator

 Kim My husband has OCD and is going deaf he denies both i have given him every piece of information but if he acts on it its to make me more disabled he works away and goes golfing with friends i wave him goodbye and my health improves i still can commmunicate and deal with finances i just get very fatiqued and my legs are getting worse afraid he had a brither who had cerebal palsy and because he couldnt communicate well they spoke for him he only has a sister left but she since knowing her has been a nasty piece but again when i make decisison to not be in her company husband cant understand but life is not perfect and i am sure there is worse out there

 Trish, Thank you so much for sharing a bit more about your relationships. In general, I've learned that people are really inside their own heads and what they say and how they behave is more about them then us. But understanding that doesn't make it any easier to cope with, as you have expressed. You do seem to understand some of the pain that drives your husband and possibly his sister, but in the end, your feelings and your disease don't get acknowledged. You need to be understood, too. Gosh, I know so many people who are like your husband and we can't do much about it except find our support system with other people. I hope you'll come back often, Trish, write about whatever you want and give us status updates too if you're interested. We care, we get you, and don't want you or anybody else to be cast adrift to go it alone. Until next time, all my best, Kim
