What Having MS Has Taught Me about Myself

I have had MS for almost 28 years now, and saying this condition has taught me a lot about myself and others feels like an understatement. It also feels very cliche. I have also learned that there is a LOT of truth in the statement that everything happens for a reason.

This pivot helped me find my calling

I was laid off by a medical school (HARVARD Medical school), who said they could no longer "afford me." Yes, I am probably always going to be angry about this, but it allowed me to go back to school and get my BA and also taught me that I am much more capable than I ever realized. I am now an energy healer, and I teach other members of the disabled and elderly community how to make themselves feel better naturally.

It still hurts but I'm moving forward

I have a Youtube channel (YNergy) that I was finally able to monetize about 5 months ago where I show others how to naturally help themselves. HMS did a real number on me when they laid me off and then went on to disclose my illness to another employer, costing me at least 2 really good job opportunities. I wound up applying for and getting SSDI (disability). I can't stand how broke I feel (and how broken I still feel after what HMS did to me), but I never could have gone back to school and gotten my degree (and made the Dean's list and was voted class speaker) if I hadn't been let go.
