Does spraying water in mouth help

Hi
I would like to know if spraying water in the mouth of a person with ms helps stop drooling and possibly adding other flavors to the water

  1. Hi, !

Please keep in mind that we are not doctors and therefore, cannot offer medical advice. That said, it's not generally suggested that one shoots/sprays water into the mouth of a person with MS. If that person is already struggling with swallowing issues, spraying water into the mouth could cause them to choke and inhale water. If you haven't done so already, I would talk to a doctor or nurse about this. Also, excessive drooling is not a typical MS symptom, so you may want to make sure that something else isn't going on to cause the issue.

Here is some information from the Cleveland Clinic on drooling and how to manage it that I thought might be interesting for you -- https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/symptoms/22384-drooling. If you are the caregiver for someone dealing with this and other health issues, please know there are a number of caregiver support communities that can be really helpful.
