I have had MS for a year and am thinking about getting pregnant, do y'all think it's safe?

  1. Hi AVasquez82! Thank you for your question! While our community members can offer some personal experience on this topic, only you, your partner, and your doctor can decide what's best for you and your lifestyle. You know your body better than anyone else and ultimately, only you can truly discern if starting a family is the right choice for you. That said, I thought you would appreciate some perspective from an MS mama -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/becoming-a-mom/. Also, you might appreciate this piece from another one of our contributors about MS and pregnancy -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/tips-learned-ms-pregnancy-becoming-mother/. As you can see from these articles, you are not alone! Many of our members are mothers. I hope these articles give you some hope and insight into pregnancy with MS. Thank you again for reaching out and best of luck coming to a decision! Best, Erin, MultipleSclerosis.net Team Member.

    1. Thank you for the advice

      1. Yes. I felt great during pregnancy. just please make sure that you have strong back up for the post delivery childcare

        1. It's only anecdotal, but I have read many times that pregnancy often results in improvement of your MS condition. It's an interesting phenomenon that you can probably research online by searching "MS and pregnancy." Once you've done that, do talk to your neurologist and OB-GYN doc so they can help you make the best decision.
