How do you keep cool?

For many of us, it's that time of year again! The season when the temperature and humidity increase to unbearable levels. Many of us with Multiple Sclerosis experience a temporary worsening of our symptoms when our temperatures increase. That makes staying cool a huge priority for us. There are tons of tips for keeping cool out there, but you can always learn something new from others. So, what do you do to stay cool during the warmer seasons?

  1. Here are some things I do to maintain my temp:

    1. Thanks ! I love a good cooling vest too! They can be so very helpful!

    2. I'm sorry to say I found a cooling vest useless, it did nothing for me. In very hot weather it stays cool for about 10 min. or so it seems.

  2. There are a lot of cooling devices that utilize evaporative cooling that won't work well in humid conditions, so here is a little info on humidity and why that is:

    1. Speaking of cooling vests, the MSAA has a program that helps folks with MS get one if they have trouble affording one:

      1. Really the heat and humidity get to you. I'm the opposite, those hot humid days I feel much better, it's the extreme cold that bothers me.

        1. That definitely happens to some people!
