Hi, ! Apologies for not catching your comment sooner!
I am so sorry you are dealing with pain. And, you're right; pain is different for each individual and it can be very hard to treat, especially when you are dealing with nerve damage. Nerve damage doesn't typically respond favorably to typical pain relievers (i.e. -- tylenol, advil, etc).
Steroids can frequently be a good short term fix, but it works best at reducing inflammation in the body and thus, reducing pain levels caused by the inflammation or injury. So, I would talk to your doctor about whether or not steroids would be a good fit for you.
There are some medications that can help with neuropathic pain, like gabapentin and pregabalin. Here's some information on neuropathic pain (you may already know this, but I wanted to share it anyway, just in case) -- https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15833-neuropathic-pain. Maybe you have tried all of these and if so, apologies on my part.
I do hope you are able to get some relief from the pain!
