Maybe MS?

I have been seeing a neurologist for over a year, after being referred by another doctor. This doctor did a neuro exam and said there was something wrong with my brain. The neurologist ordered an MRI and we were shocked to hear that I had 18 lesions in my brain. I had an MRI 5 years ago that was completely clear. I am experiencing many classic symptoms, but the neurologist keeps saying I am too old to present with MS(66 yrs old). He keeps telling me that lesions are a part of aging and that we may never know what caused mine. I am a retired nurse, I think he's wrong, but I keep getting told that he's the doctor and he should know. Having worked with docs for years, I know that may not be true, but I feel like I am bothering my doctors when I bring it up. Has anyone else gone through this? What should I do?

  1. HI thank you for sharing with us. Please don't ever feel like you are bothering you doctors, that is their job, and if you don't feel like you are getting heard, please seek out another opinion. Many of our members have said they had to see multiple doctors until they felt like they were getting the care they deserve. Do not give up, please find someone that can help you. Sending you lots of strength. Jill (Team Member)

    1. Thank you so much. As a retired nurse, my knowledge tells me to keep seeking help, but emotionally I am just like everyone else. I have begun to feel intimidated. Time to buck up and march on and find some better help.

      1. I am so glad to hear this. Please keep us posted, I really hope you get the answers you deserve. Jill (Team Member)
