Question about MS hug

Back in June I started having a relapse which involved amongst other things a loss of sensation in my legs, and over the course of a few months started to affect the sensation of my stomach. For a while now I think I've been having the MS hug but I'm not sure. So, what I've been getting is a tightness and a firmness especially around the bottom of my ribs, which from what I've read is pretty standard. The part I'm not too sure about is that I'm only getting it every 1 or 2 days and it only seems to last about 20 minutes or so plus I only really notice it when I'm walking or when just stood up. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

  1. hi there. Just your post.i have the bear hug sensations all the time feels like a vice squashing and squeezing mê aroubd the rib area.i havent got any feeling around that area at all somedays are worse than others

    1. thanks for your reply, that sounds tough, mine hasn't grown into a bear hug yet... more like an over excitable child! Thanks again 🙂

  2. Hi . I hope you get more responses from the community. That must be an unsettling feeling, especially if you are not certain about what is going on. Have you mentioned this sensation to your doctor yet? It does sound a lot like the MS hug, but better to be safe and get your doctor's opinion. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. thanks for your reply. I have spoken to my MS nurse and she agrees that it sounds like the hug. I think I'll just see how it goes. It'll be reet! 🙂

  3. HI. I use to get some serious MS hugs. My first two I got I thought I was having a heart attack and went to the hospital. They found nothing. No answers for what they were either. Mind you, this was in the 80s. Once I was diagnosed, my Neurologist put me on Baclofin and I haven't had one since. Good luck

    1. OH....also, I never turn down medicine. 1. Being able to show treatments for symptoms helps when trying to get disability and 2. You never know when the ability to meds will become non existent since they are all made in China.

    2. thanks for that reply, you've got a good way of thinking.
