Typical symptom onset during a relapse?

just trying to get an understanding of how symptoms come on with ms. I know it’s different for everyone.

For the most part, i’ve had 3 consistent symptoms that i’ve had in a previous episode: buzzing on face and foot, electric shocks down arm and in tongue.

Those are for sure symptoms that are consistent since the onset this time and 2.5 years ago. That went away and came back.

The other symptoms i’ve been having could totally be just things i’m noticing cause i’m paying attention: like dizziness, tremors, shooting pain, waves of heat/shock sensation (not with head movements just random), feeling wet feet when not wet, tripping and fumbling over words, fatigue, etc.

But i’ve also just now experienced a burning pain in my throat. Of course googled if that can be from MS. But if this is a relapse, it’s already over a week in. It wouldn’t really make sense to just now have that if it didn’t come on during the onset of this “episode” if it were ms? Like this late into it?

My question is- is it not very typical to experience a brand new symptom that late into a potential relapse? Wouldn’t it come on in the beginning?

Thank you. Undiagnosed. First episode I’m calling it was 2.5 years ago. Seeing a neuro again soon.

  1. thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with these symptoms and still seeking an accurate diagnosis. That can be a challenging time to be in when you don't have a confirmed diagnosis.

The neurologist would be the best person to answer this question about your symptom popping up later in a potential relapse, so it's great that you have that appointment on the calendar.

In the meantime, here are two articles on the site here that do a great job of defining relapses and might give you a better understanding on your experience.

I hope that you find them helpful. Keep us posted on how your appointment goes, if you feel comfortable doing so. We're wishing you best of luck in getting the answers that you're seeking.
