"I have hit a rough patch. All of a sudden, I am unable to stand up much less walk. It just doesn't make sense. For such a long time, I felt almost normal,l being able to walk to grocery, bus stop to go to, work and church. Then, I used my cane for a very short time to do what I was doing before. Then, one morning, I woke up, got out of bed and had to grab walls to stand up. I am so upset that I can't walk at all anymore. I try to push a walker around the apartment, but I can't do anything outside without somebody holding me up and trying to get me to walk. "
Hi @vvxjr9. I feel your frustration and exhaustion. That sounds like an exacerbation or a relapse. Have you contacted your doctor? Do you have a wheelchair you can use around the apartment if you are feeling too weak for the walker? If it is a relapse, there is a good chance you will recover much of your strength again over time. Please keep us posted and stay safe. Sending lots and lots of hugs! - Lori (Team Member)
Lori, thanks for your kind words. I don't understand what is going on. Last summer, I was going to the bus stop, work, walking home from the bus stop, and just looked and seemed like any other professional career person. I can't believe it, a year later, I can't even stand up and have to hold onto walls or people. You wouldn't believe how many tears I have shed. We are finally getting to move to Florida - I was really looked forward to the tennis, volleyball, bocce, bowling, etc. and all those cool planned activities. We have been looking and trying to find a really good independent living retirement apartments to move into. I was not planning on moving to an assisted living or whater they call it that serves you three meals a day, does housework, and laundry. Not for anotehr decade or so!
Hi @vvxjr9. Please don't give up on those things just yet. Many people recover a good deal from relapses. My father usually recovered about 80 percent. Here is an article about MS relapses: https://multiplesclerosis.net/what-is-ms/relapse/. Please see your doctor as soon as possible, so you can figure what is happening and getting on the best treatment plan for you. MS can be unpredictable. Your current state is not necessarily your new normal. Hugs! - Lori (Team Member)
"I'm not sure. I just took my second Mavenclad pill and I am really hoping for something positive"

"Actually, I'm not doing so well. I've been without treatment for too many months, can't walk at all, and it's quite an effort to push my walker."
My heart goes out to you, @vvxjr9. Did you stop treatment because of COVID-19? Have you talked to your doctor about what the lack of treatment is doing to you? These are stressful times and stress can lead to exacerbations as well. I hope tomorrow is a better day. Hugs! – Lori, MultipleSclerosis.net, Team Member
