Has anyone ever had a sharp pain?

Has anyone ever had a sharp pain that feels like you’re being stabbed with a hot knife or being stung by a bee or a wasp? I’ve been experiencing this pain for a few days in my side next to my chest and not sure if it is MS related. It comes and goes and it is not constant.

Yes and yes. To me, it’s like a quick bee sting. It pokes, then leaves a slight lingering sting. It happens…. quite often. More in the evening. First time I felt it, I thought I was nuts!

Oh, yes! I had been feeling back pains for quite some time, so I was taking Advils/extra strength arthritis pills. But they weren’t good enough one night, when a sharp pain shot through my spine! Of course the pain came not as I was sleeping in my own, private bed. It came in a public place! I was doing something important with my teenaged daughter. And when that pain shot me, I yelled, “ouch!” And moments later, I was on the floor of an elevator. I seemed to faint from that pain! But who knows? And who may EVER know? I see a neurologist for my MS, a general doctor, and a therapist. But MS is not yet said to be the culprit of that sharp pain that one night. But I’m taking a prescribed pain killer now. And my back still hurts when those pain killer wear off. I just learn to sarcastically laugh, and to think to myself: MS really should stand for “Mysterious Setbacks.”

Love the acronym and oh so true! Sorry you’ve experienced this. I read someone’s story on here that their back pain which doctor’s originally thought was arthritis as seen on an x-ray turned out to be lesions associated with MS. I too suffer from back pains since I can remember, and chiropractor told me it was arthritis after looking at an x-ray, but now I’m wondering? Hope your pain pills continue to help you.

MS can be very scary. it amazes me how many different things it can do and how it affects everyone so differently! One thing I have learned is that I am not alone and it could be worse. Hang in there and don’t assume anything.

Yes…. but I get an electrical type of sharp pain that comes and goes in my feet and toes. It is very painful… but it only lasts between 5-10 seconds at a time. It’s very sporadic.pain and ms is awful. It kinda does feel like a knife stabbing me but I can tell it’s an electric pulse.
    Ms is crazy
