A Good Reason to Get Up

I proposed to my then-girlfriend 10 days before I was admitted to the hospital for numbness in my legs. I spent a week more in the hospital having tests run on and doctors with question marks for answers talking to me. My in-laws drove 12 hours to come to make sure I was okay and that my fiancé was as well.

I gave her an option

After the week, I was given my diagnosis, 10 days before my 24th birthday. I sat my fiancé down and told her if she wanted an out, this was it. This would be a journey no one asks for or wants. She called me dumb and married me to prove it 6 months later.

My wife's support has meant the world to me

I felt a darkness and a solitude from those two letters my doctors gave me, but through it all my now wife stuck by me. We learned what we could where we could. Changed our diet, our lifestyle, and most of all our expectations. We now have a beautiful baby girl, and although we may not know what the future looks like, I know I don’t have to face it alone.
