Clinical exam contrary to symptoms?

Has anyone ever had their clinical exam at the neurologist office come out differently than what you feel. I've had ON going dizziness for over a month now. Plus I have weakness on one side. Not dabilatatng but it's there. Though I was at the office for a 6months follow up. I told her about the dizziness. She did a thorough exam.

When done she said my exam was good. Okay. What about me being so uncomfortable when ask to shift my eyes from your nose to your finger. Standing with my eyes closed and swaying back and forth. Putting one foot in front of the other and not being able to keep my balance at all.

Have any of you ever had this happen. What's a bad clinical exam then if those parts of the exam weren't?

Only good outcome is that we will be doing an MRI to see where the dizziness is coming from. I already know. It's an MS flare. Been here done this. By the way this is a new neuro for me. Please help. Should I just be grateful she said it was a good exam?

Thanks in advance

  1. Hi meissie47. I hope other community members are able to share some input on your experience. If you would like, you can also post this question on our Facebook page -- It's hard to say whether your visit was good or not. Let me say this -- you know your body best. If you feel like your new neurologist is missing something or not listening to you, it might be a good idea to have a candid talk with her. If that doesn't help the situation, you may want to see if there are other neurologists in your area. You might appreciate this article on finding a doctor that works in partnership with you to manage your MS -- It sounds like she is thorough, which is a good sign. Maybe it will take some time for you to develop a good line of communication between the two of you. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the community. If you have anymore questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let us know! We're happy to help in any way we can. Thank you, Erin, Team Member.
