Disability

Filed for disability after not being able to work in March. SSI started giving me presumptive pay in in August because they were so sure I was going to get approved, now today told I was denied. Now what I can't drive can't manage alone. A little hope given just to take it away that possibly I could at least maybe help support me, just kidding

  1. Oh, good grief, ! I am so sorry this happened to you and I would definitely file an appeal asap. Are you filing on your own or are you using a lawyer? It's not all that unusual to be denied, but I don't want you to be in a situation where you have to pay back the money you already received. I wanted to share an article from our sister site for RA (rheumatoid arthritis) about appealing a SSDI denial -- https://rheumatoidarthritis.net/living/appeal-ssdi-denial. I hope this information is useful for you.

Good luck and don't quit fighting!

    1. don't have to pay back and going at it alone. So frustrating. They called me telling me how lucky I was to get presumptive pay because they were so sure of it they had to explain it several times for it to make sense but they made me feel hopeful then laughed in my face I'm not ungrateful I'm happy for the help I did get but if I could work I would I have til this awful disease cursed me and now being punished by ssa

      1. , well, I guess that's good news (you don't have to pay it back) and bad news (you got denied). I would definitely APPEAL, especially considering that the individuals you communicated with were so sure you would qualify. That seems a little weird to me. You have every right to appeal and many, MANY people get rejected on their first application. I know it's exhausting and probably the last thing you want to do, but in this case, persistence can pay off.
