Health trackers - any recommendations?

The fitness tracking watch I have been using is giving up on me. I bought it for cheap during the pandemic lockdown to track steps and sleep. Now that I'm really struggling with walking, it no longer registers most of my steps, and it is starting to glitch on my sleep. So I've been looking for a new wearable tracker, with the emphasis on health over fitness, but am seeing so many reviews across the board that I can't decide.

So I figured I would come to this wonderful community and ask. Do you wear a health or fitness tracker? Do you have any that you would recommend? I won't be upset if your recommendation doesn't work for me, I'm just genuinely lost and hoping for some input from individuals who are concerned about the same things that I am. Is my heart rate going too high, is my oxygen level going too low, am I sleeping well and enough?

I appreciate any input. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

  1. this is such a great question! I'll be honest, I don't actively track my steps at the moment, but I really should because I know it will be a "tangible" reminder to move more. I have the apple watch and it's an easy track. A friend got a non apple tracker on Amazon for a much lower price and she liked it just as well, so there are definitely options out there. I did try out the Oura ring last year and did not care for it, partly because I'm super simple when it comes to jewelry so I didn't like the big ring 24/7. I also didn't feel that it compelled me to do anything differently so I actually returned it. Honestly, by favorite tracker is simply pen and paper - hours slept, energy level, water, etc. I keep it simple, but I really like pen and paper best.

    1. I just started using the app STRAVA and I really like it. They have where you can pay for a subscription for certain features but the free version does actually everything that I need and want it to do. It also has an online community and you can share your activity with friends on the app too. Before using this I used the Nike Run App for a while as well. I still have it and like that one too! Let me know if you give either a try or have any questions! -Latoya (Team Member)

      1. This is a great question! My friend uses Whoop and swears by it. Her main concern is sleep tracking and then fitness/steps second. She was telling me about the metrics it tracks and it was quite impressive. Can be a bit pricey but she's a big fan and has used it for years. Hope you find some good alternatives! ๐ŸงกKayleigh, Team Member

        1. thank you all for chiming in! I'll definitely take a look at the apps, I noticed that my phone is way more accurate than the watches for tracking steps now that I don't walk so hard. I recently found a new fitness watch on the Vine program (free is always nice, I was so happy to get invited to join) that I'm going to check out. My main goal with the tracker is heart rate and oxygen saturation. My appointments during the last year all noted elevated heart rate to the point of a little concern. Granted, I was anxious, in unfamiliar settings with unfamiliar people, and generally had just trekked up a hill in heat. So I'm not super concerned but I'd be a dummy not to pay closer attention. Fingers crossed, if it ends up being good I'll let you know the brand.

I'm still open to all suggestions because I really don't know that this one will work out. I was so interested in the rings, but they're all so thick. With my hands being numb I feel like I'll hurt myself and not even realize it until later.
