Symptoms

Please help. I was diagnosed with ms last feburuary.i just recently started getting new symptoms I noticed that when people are talking to me it's taking along time for me to process what they have said. It's like I m in slow motion.im listening but the information is to fast and i can't process whats said straight away. What's happening to me

  1. I am sure you must be frightened, . You are not alone. Many people with MS have problems processing words at times. It is a form of cognitive fog. Have you talked with your doctor about this? There are medications that can help. If it is really bothersome, you might want to consider having cards made up that you can hand to people explaining that you can't understand them and why. Here is an article from one of our advocates about his experiences with cognitive fog: https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/keeping-up-fog-feel-bad. I hope it helps and that it makes you feel less alone. Thinking of you! - Lori (Team Member)

    1. , I just want to echo what Lori already wrote. You are definitely NOT alone in this and the symptoms you are experiencing are not unusual (although I know they can be very scary to experience). This is definitely a symptom that can come and go, depending on your MS. Some of our members experience occasional 'cog fog', while others experience more frequently. I would definitely discuss any new or worsening symptom you are experiencing with your doctor, to be safe.

And again, please know you are not alone in this!

      1. Thankyou Erin
It's nice to know there are other people out there experiencing what I'm going through. I seem to be getting bad luck after bad luck.yesterday I found out I have primary biliary cholangitis. Liver disease. I have to see a liver consultant and waiting for a ultrasound. One thing after another. I'm so fed upx

        1. How frustrating and overwhelming, . I hope your doctor is able to bring the liver issues under control. Unfortunately, it seems that having one autoimmune disease can make you vulnerable to others. I hope this is the last of them for you and that you can get back to enjoying life again. Sending lots of positive vibes your way! - Lori (Team Member)

      2. Hi Lori. Looks as if the liver thing going on is here for the long hull .it ant going to go away. . I was blaming alot of symptoms on the ms . But its not .its to do with the liverx

        1. I am sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else, . Gentle hugs! - Lori (Team Member)
