My name is Tim Appelen. I am an Optometry student at Odisee University of Applied Sciences, and as part of my bachelor’s thesis, I am conducting research on the visual impact of optic neuritis in multiple sclerosis (MS).
Optic neuritis can have a significant impact on vision, both during the acute phase and in the long term. While medical studies provide valuable clinical information, the personal experiences of patients often remain underrepresented. With this survey, I aim to better understand how visual symptoms are experienced and how they affect daily life.
The survey includes questions about:
• The course of visual symptoms over time
• Possible residual symptoms after recovery
• The impact on functioning and quality of life
The survey takes approximately 8–12 minutes to complete
Participation is fully anonymous
No identifiable personal data are collected
At the end of the survey, you may optionally indicate whether you would be willing to participate in a short follow-up conversation.
This is entirely voluntary.
Your experience is highly valuable and can contribute to a better understanding and future improvement of care for visual symptoms in MS.

Thank you very much for your time and contribution.
