Evoked Potentials Tests

What was your experience like with evoked potentials tests?

Was it what you expected?

What do you wish you knew before about them?

  1. I know I could just search for the term, but explain what this is.

    1. Hi ,
Evoked potentials tests measure the electrical activity in the brain and is sometimes used as a diagnostic test for MS. This article helps explain these tests in greater detail: https://multiplesclerosis.net/diagnosis/evoked-potentials

  2. I've already been diagnosed, but would there be any benefit to getting this anyway? I have a great plan through Medicaid which covers in full services that weren't covered with my previous private insurance, so I'd like to take advantage of all I can and learn more about my condition.

    1. Hi ,
That's a great question and one that you may want to discuss with your healthcare provider. As you may be aware there are many tests available that can diagnose and/or track the progression of MS. Some people with MS have nerve damage, but it might not cause any noticeable symptoms. This damage might not even be picked up on a neurological exam or MRI. Evoked potentials tests can be used to detect nerve problems in these cases.
