Internal Tremors

I’ve been having my back or specifically my spine vibrate. This been going on for a year now. I wonder if this can be progression of MS? I notice that Baclofen I take for spasticity seems to be helping for these internal tremors sometimes. It usually happens at night when I’m still or wakes me up from sleep. I wonder if there are more people experiencing this and how do they manage? When I bring it up to my neurologist a year ago, he did not suggest anything and maybe he didn’t understand what I was trying to explain to him, but as time went by I did my research online and I found out that more people are experiencing this so this week I’m going back to my neurologist to have the same discussion.

  1. I also have internal vibrations but mine are in my hands. I do also have buzzing sensations in my feet but with my hands I have to hold my hands out and check to make sure that aren't quivering. I have problems writing and sometimes when I'm holding a glass for instance it feels like it's slipping out of my hand. I don't take medication, I've used meds in the past and the side affects have always outweighed the gains. They have got worse over the years but thankfully I think external tremors are a different thing.

    1. Hi, !

I am sorry you are dealing with these internal tremors and I hope your appointment with the neurologist is fruitful and that maybe you get some answers and/or treatment options.

Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor, but internal tremors can be a sign of MS, but not necessarily a sign of MS progression, if that makes sense. MS definiely likes to keep a person guessing and it's not all that unusual for random symptoms to pop up and then disappear (or, unfortunately, hang around). It doesn't have to mean that your MS is progressing. Only your doctor will be able to test and verify that information for you.

And, again, I hope that appointment is helpful and that your neurologist listens to you and addresses your concerns fully. Also, I thought you might appreciate this conversation from our forums on the topic of internal tremors -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/forums/internal-tremors. You're not the only member of this community that experiences them, so I hope that offers you some comfort.
