  1. Hi . A new diagnosis can be pretty overwhelming, but even more so as a new parent. Were you diagnosed during a relapse? If so, your symptoms might improve tremendously over time and with physical therapy, and medication might prevent another relapse for a very long time. It is hard to say for certain because the MS journey is different for everyone, but we do have lots of members and advocates who had children and raised them after being diagnosed with MS. One advocate, Callie Wyatt, has identical triplets and one older child. Her is a link to her articles if you are interested: https://multiplesclerosis.net/author/cmwyatt. Here is another article from one of our advocates with advice for people who are new to MS: https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/a-few-thoughts-for-the-newly-diagnosed. I thought you might find it helpful. Please know we are here for you as you navigate life with a baby and MS. Thinking of you and wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. hi and welcome! I just want to echo Lori's words and let you know you're not alone here!

I know being being newly diagnosed can be such an overwhelming time, so if you get a chance, check out that link Lori shared for the newly diagnosed. The one thing I always say to our new members dealing with a fresh diagnosis is to just feel however you need to feel. Take the time to just allow yourself to feel however you need to (angry, numb, in shock, sad, scared, totally fine, etc). And then take a deep breath and start putting together your game plan.

We have quite a few parents in this community and I hope they see your post and chime in here. As I already wrote (and at the risk of sounding like a broken record 😉 ), please know you are not alone here! This community gets it and we're happy to help in any way we can.
