MS Flares

Everyone experiences flares or relapses so differently from one another. With that in mind, we'd like to know:

How can you tell a flare is coming on?

What symptoms seem to worsen or occur during a flare?

Does anything seem to help shorten the length or severity of your flares?

  1. Weakness

    1. the only thing that seems to help me is a round of steroids.

    2. , sometimes, you've gotta do what you've gotta do and if steroids is what it takes to bring you some relief, well, so be it.

  2. Yes

    1. Suddenly I would feel better perform better
then have a sudden worsening of old stuff ie eyesight, vertigo, numbness fatigue etc. No fair!

    2. Oh goodness! I can see how that can be frustrating to deal with. To go from feeling good to things going down hill all of a sudden is quite a rollercoaster. That's absolutely not fair and I hate you have to deal with this. I truly hope you experience less of this happening and more better days ahead! Hang in there! Latoya (Team Member)

  3. Rest, sleep, quiet, my dog by my side.

    1. , this sounds like the best way to deal with a flare! I do hope you don't deal with too many flares, though.

  4. I always know I'm gonna get bad when I wake up so many times at night.

    1. I thought I must be the losing my mind because I'll fall asleep and within minutes wake up and this happens a to l through the night. The worst part is is when I wake up trembling on the inside and outside. I thought for sure I was losing my mind and it's so comforting to know that I'm not alone. Thank you for sharing. God bless you.

    2. I'm sorry to hear that too deal with this symptom. MS is such crazy sometimes how it affects the body. I'm glad that it at least brought some comfort and validation to realize that you're not alone in this. Although we would never wish these experiences upon another person, it is helpful to know that we're not alone.
