Exercise

I go to the ymca, I go swimming to stretch all my muscles. I also use the hottub for a few minute to help my aching back. Also, I use the weight machines this help getting my strength in my arms, legs & back. I have had MS since 1988 & now I am 68 & when I get tired I rest then keep going. When there is humidity & high temperatures I usually stay inside & keep cool. I learned over the years just listen to your body & when I have trouble with balance I know I need to exercise more & it goes away

  1. I've been lifting weights for about 65 years now, sadly not to the extent that I used to. I have a weight bench, free weights, resistant bands, a treadmill and a few other machines. I used to love the pool but it was vandalized several years back and I had it taken out. I joint the Y for a while, which is quite expensive, used their weight room basically to have access to a few machines I don't have at home. Would have loved to have used the pool but found that it was the space it was in, incredibly humid and kids coughing, sneezing and no one seemed to care. That ended my interest. I had a 'mild' case of Covid in 2020, caught it from what I consider dirty ignorant people who were standing in the middle of a grocery aisle, coughing up their lungs, not even attempting to cover their faces. Since, I wear a mask when I go out and couldn't care less who thinks I'm nuts for doing so even in this scorching weather. Anyways, I try to make sure I exercise 5-6 days a week to keep up my leg and arm strength. I do push-up's or 'push-out's' against the kitchen counter, leg extensions, calf raises and wish I could do so much more. Many years ago (1985), my wonderful, kind neurologist who knew I was pretty obsessed with exercise told me, "keep doing what you're doing, keep moving or, you won't". I never forgot that and I 'keep moving' even when the pain slows me down. Exercise is a very good thing to do for ourselves.

    1. ,
I love how you keep active and keep moving.
It sounds like you got some pretty sound advice from your neurologist many years ago.

  2. How much is it cuz I'm on disability.

    1. are you asking how much you should be exercising? If so, that's always an individual answer, and it's one that may even change day to day for each person. We may have days where we feel good - both strength and energy wise - and then we have others days where we don't feel our best. So, it's always important to honor your body's needs and ability on a given day, and give yourself the appropriate time afterwards to recover.
