Ampyra

My Neurologist prescribed Ampyra as I have had recent falls. I have taken it for several days and feel dizzy and sick to my stomach. I had no falls for a month and no problems walking. Not sure it is worth it.
Anyone have similar side effects? Does it improve with time?

  1. Hi I looked through our members previous comments about Ampyra and I couldn't find anyone sharing similar side effects. However, I do hope our members will respond here if they have experienced this. Have you had a chance to talk to your doctor about how you are feeling? I am curious to know what they would think. I hope you can get some relief. Jill (Team Member)

    1. I have been on Ampyra for about a year and have had no side effects at all.

However - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And even on days when it works, the effect seems to wear off after about an hour of walking.

      1. Hi, ! While our members may not have mentioned experiencing side effects like yours while on Ampyra, both nausea and problems with balance/dizziness are listed as common side effects of the medication. Generally, many of the more common side effects diminish or go away as your body adjusts to the medication, but not always. I would definitely stay in communication with your doctor about these symptoms.

Hang in there and I hope Ampyra works for you AND that the side effects go away very soon!
