Butt muscle spasticity and pain

Help!! For the last 8 weeks I've been experiencing butt muscle spasticity and pain. But it's been so much worse over the last 2 weeks. I saw my neurologist a few days ago and have an MRI coming up in a couple of days. I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do???
I've tried heat, ice, resting, stretching, soft massage, deep massage, voltaren gel, magnesium spray, nurofen and a whole bunch of other drugs, including Pregabalin. In the past fortnight I've had 2 physio sessions, ultrasound therapy and dry needling.
My neurologist prescribed Palexia (opioid pain killer) which did nothing for the pain but sent me so stupid for 24 hours, so I haven't taken that again. Also have an anti spasticity drug (Baclofen) which doesn't seem to be doing much.
Any thoughts or experiences?!?
Thank you

  1. Oh, goodness, . You've really been dealing with it, haven't you? I'm so sorry. And, honestly, you have tried pretty much everything I would have suggested. I know Baclofen has helped a number of people and I am sorry it's not doing the trick for you. I don't know that you will glean any new tips from this article, but I wanted to share it, as I know you are definitely not the only member of this community dealing with severe spasticity and pain -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/spasticity-pain-stiffness-fatigue. This article by one of our health leaders shares possible options to manage spasticity and there are quite a few member comments following the piece. I hope between the article and the comments, you might find a new avenue to try -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/spasticity. It does seem like some of these stronger bouts of spasticity will come and go and I do very much hope that this recent bout you are experiencing GOES very soon and doesn't return! Eight weeks is long enough. This spasticity has definitely overstayed its welcome.

Good luck and I really, truly hope you get some relief very soon.

    Best, Erin, Team Member.
