Problems with doctors

I have symptoms for about 7 years now.. i am now 99% i have MS. I stumble around like I am drunk, my memory is bad, I am lethargic, dizzy, bladder problems. Symptoms come and go (especially walking) they get worse with the heat. i googled 2 of my symptoms and actually found out I have more. I have been to the doctor, they took my bloods, everything came ok so they refered me to brain CT which is not the best for brain problems.. results came back I have sinusitis. I dont have any symptoms of this.. i went online and i found out that the two of them can be mistaken on CT scan. I would really like MRI to finally find out for sure what is wrong with me and start treating it. I am changing practice now as they want me to wait another 4 weeks for appointment. I am getting frustrated and stressed about it. How do I get MRI without seeing my GP?

  1. Hi I can understand why you are frustrated. In order to get a MRI, you would need a medical order from a medical practitioner. This order can be written by a primary care physician or a specialist who deems the MRI necessary for diagnosis or treatment. I am sending over this article that talks about how doctors gather a diagnosis: https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/diagnosing-isnt-easy-why. Also, here is an article with some advice while waiting for a diagnosis/testing: https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/what-is-it-like-to-not-be-diagnosed. I really hope this is helpful for you. Please keep us posted. Jill (Team Member)
