From balance problems to neuropathy, there are a host of reasons why the footwear that worked BEFORE MS might not be comfortable anymore AFTER MS. This loss may seem minor, but it can be a big adjustment Brooke's latest comic below illustrates some of these changes.

Hello, Brooke P. Thanks for your insightful article, for years I have worn corrective foot wear,(due to severe flat feet) two <a href='http://yrs.ago' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer ugc'>yrs.ago</a> after I had foot scans, the podiatrist suggested that a hard shell Orthotics it would be best for me, I've been wearing them and much of the time, in all of my shoes,and find them to be so comfortable, that; they helped relieve ankle fatigue,sore knees and so far, and; best of all compliment my new MS. diagnosis. Brooke your pictures,(right column) are similar to many of the shoes, past and present that I've worn. The problem is, that; I've heard a lot of is that most women say is they really don't like a corrective shoe or sensible shoes, because they're not as aesthetically attractive as dress shoes ect. I I would like to suggest the next time someone's at the beach or anywhere that they can view shoes less feet, <a href='http://pl.take' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer ugc'>pl.take</a> a look, because, you can tell who wears the sensible shoes, my motto is, unattractive or ugly shoes equal pretty naked feet, noooo bunions corns,ect!

Hi Brooke, thank you for this. Nearly 2 years ago I gave all but 1 pair of heels away. I couldn't part with the pair I kept. (Maybe someday I can wear them again was my hopeful thinking.) If I go someplace and have to dress up, ( hasn't happened yet!) maybe I can just sit and put them on and then take them off again if I have to walk. Well, they're still in my closet beneath all of the slip on flats and laceless sneakers!

 I hear that. I have one pair of 1” heels for special occasions. A cane and someone’s arm will help. My son’s wedding approaching. I bought a pair of white patent leather Pumas with satin laces. Thank goodness it a beachy wedding. Hahaha

This was so funny I giggled because the only shoe I can tolerate now is a soft cushion slipper. The bottom of my feet always feel like I'm walking on little pebbles. If my toes are inside a shoe that is fitting, they feel like they're swelling. MS has brought so many weird feelings, especially to my feet. I can only do #1

 It is the most annoying thing to feel like there are stones in your shoes all the time. They also feel like they’re asleep all the time. I relate completely.
