MSAA Core Programs Help People with Multiple Sclerosis

As we venture into a new year with hope for better tomorrows ahead, there are several free, ongoing signature programs from MSAA designed to improve the overall quality of life for individuals with multiple sclerosis.

MSAA Programs - Equipment, Cooling, MRI

Safety and mobility equipment

The longstanding MSAA Equipment Distribution Program offers a variety of durable medical equipment – ranging from shower chairs to walkers – for enhanced home safety and independence. In addition to durable medical products, this program also includes exercise equipment such as an exercise peddler, a set of resistance bands, and a yoga package.

Cooling accessories

While we may be in the middle of winter, it is never too early to start thinking of summer afternoons spent outdoors. Enjoy gardening, picnicking, and time outside with your family with the help of our Cooling Distribution Program. Find out if you qualify for a free cooling vest – and added accessories to cool your neck, wrists, and ankles – to help lessen the unwanted effects of heat and humidity. MSAA’s Cooling Program is open year-round. Apply now and avoid potential delays during the busy spring and summer months!

MRI assistance

The MRI Access Fund helps pay for new brain and c-spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans for diagnosing multiple sclerosis or evaluating current disease progression. This program is designed to assist qualified individuals who have no medical insurance or cannot afford their insurance due to high deductibles or copays. In addition to funding new MRI scans, this program also provides payment for past MRI(s) of the brain or c-spine. The MRI(s) must have a date of service from July 1, 2020 to present for qualified candidates.

Financial hardship waiver

Recognizing the continued challenges of this terrible pandemic, MSAA has instituted a financial hardship waiver. This waiver is for program applicants who have experienced unexpected loss of income or additional financial burden during these difficult times.

Apply online or by mail or fax

Each of these programs offers an online application, or you can download and print the application to mail or fax to MSAA. Apply now for any of these vital services at mymsaa.org. If you have any questions, or need assistance completing the application, please call the MSAA Helpline at (800) 532-7667, ext. 154.
