Burning Sensations

Hi all I'm new to this forum but wanted to reach out for help. I have a constant burning scalp and neck. I also feel like insects crawling in my back. I also suffer from fatigue and regularly fall asleep suddenly while working. I have a brain scan next week and on a large dose of gabapentin which does nothing. Have anyone else had anything like this? Thanks

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! I am sure you are feeling overwhelmed and anxious as you await testing. Those are all some common symptoms of MS and gabapentin is often prescribed for both the burning feeling and the crawling sensation, but there are other health conditions that can cause similar symptoms. I hope your MRI shows no lesions and that your symptoms are due to something curable, but if it is MS, know that there are medications that can help. Here is an article about that crawling sensation that might interest you: https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/creepy-ms. Burning sensations are common when there is nerve damage. Thankfully, it can go away after a while. I hope you get lots of responses from the community and answers from your doctor. Once you have that diagnosis, you can start on a path to wellness and relief. Keep us posted if you feel comfortable doing so. Thinking of you! - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Welcome Daveyred, I haven't had those symptoms you describe myself (i've had ms for 26 years) but i'm sure others on here have. If you do end up having ms make some diet and lifestyle changes, you'll be amazed at what you'll be able to achieve.
