Everything Old is New Again

Even though I may be new to most of you, I really am an old voice. Let me introduce myself because it has been a while since I’ve been active on MultipleSclerosis.net.

I was diagnosed with MS in 2008 (but had symptoms before then for about 20 years); I’m retired (first because of my MS and now because of age!); I’ve been married 50+ years to the same man (I was young but not a child bride!); I have two adult children and four amazing granddaughters (ages 49, 44, 20, 17, 14 and 3). We all live in Ohio and I have a wonderful medical team.

I have a passion for participant driven MS research and I have been the lead MS patient representative for iConquerMS for over ten years. Check us out (iconquerMS.org) and join us if you’re interested in helping advance research to make a difference for all of us living with MS.

I did a side project recently, hosting a podcast of 40 unique individuals discussing their own MS Diagnosis Journey (which is also the name of the podcast if you want to find it). I am amazed how tenacious and resilient we all are. It was a lot of fun to talk one-on-one to all these people about their MS.

I began writing for MultipleSclerosis.net on day one of their launch over ten years ago. I haven’t written much lately because there are so many fresh voices you can hear from and I’ve been distracted with research and life in general.

I will be moderating more here as topics arise that I might help with. I love the MS community spirit here and hope to make a difference. Please let me know if there is something specific I can help with because we really are in this together!

See you around, Laura
