Finding some semblance of peace. Anxiety stress is killing me right now

I can't even begin to emulate what is not only going thru my mind, but is coursing through my whole system in such a negative and debilitating wat atm. Having been hospitalized since Jan 22 of 2026 when I fell and broke my back while in assisted living. The past 8 months have taken a toll that I find more difficult to elaborate at this time. I am going to try.
I had no one to help me. No family to speak of. No friends since I chose to get sober. I was just denied another -lace that made it sound as tho it was going to happen. And again, denied. I'm to young. I have a record
It's always something. I simply am at my wits end.
I know others of you are blessed with family, finances and living situations that you truly are blessed to have. I'm grateful to God to know some of us are cared for in the most basic of ways.
Those of us that are facing the most basic needs and cannot find a way is so hard on us in more ways than I can go into right now. I'm writing this just to reach out. I know I am not alone. I have tried everything the MS society and others to no avail. If anyone of you can think of anything from resources to moving to a different part of this country , I am willing to do whatever it takes. Because Maine has nothing for me and I simply cannot go on doing this day after day. Purgatory.
I'm 54 and have RRMS. I can't get to my other profile tonight. Probably cuz I'm freaking the hell out because I just can't do this anymore

  1. I’m really glad you reached out here, because sometimes just having someone listen when you’re at that breaking point matters. Since you’ve already contacted the MS organizations, I’d really encourage you to ask the hospital or rehab team for a social worker or case manager who can help you work through housing and discharge options. Be very specific about what you need as far as safe housing and a realistic plan for where you’ll go next, not just another list of resources to contact. They may also be able to help you explore disability benefits, transitional housing, assisted living, or other community-based programs that you may not have been connected with yet. And when you mentioned being willing to move, I completely understand why you’re considering it. If Maine isn’t providing the support you need, it makes sense to look at what other places may have to offer. I’d just do some research first and see where the strongest disability, housing, and community support programs are before making such a big change. You deserve to move toward something better, not just move because you feel like you have no other choice. I hope you’re able to give yourself some grace right now. You’ve been carrying a lot. And I’m glad you reached out instead of keeping it all to yourself. We are here to help as much as we can. You're never alone here 🧡 -Latoya (Team Member)

  2. My heart goes out to you, . I really don't have any advice to add to the excellent tips you got from Latoya. I know it shouldn't be this hard to get safe, stable housing and care, but keep fighting for yourself. You deseve it. You fought hard to get sober and you can do this (even though you probably don't feel like you can). Congratulations on your sobriety! Have you plugged in to any support groups like AA or NA? I only ask because those folks have been there, done that and know what it's like to lose your friend/family group. They often have some leads on resources for getting your life back on track (including stable housing).

I am glad you reached out here. I am sorry it's like this and I do hope your perseverance pays off.

    Best, Erin, Team Member.
