MS symptom or not

I have been experiencing some pain in my left calf that occurs mainly when I am at rest, usually when I lie down at night. It is a dull ache rather than a sharp or stabbing pain.

I initially thought it might be related to my menstrual cycle, but over time, the episodes have become more frequent. I no longer get periods due to my birth control, yet the pain still occurs occasionally and more often than it used to. Recently, I have also noticed that the pain sometimes radiates down towards my foot.

I find that folding or bending my leg into a particular position helps relieve the discomfort and allows me to fall asleep.

I was recently diagnosed with MS, and I would like to know whether this could be an MS-related symptom.

  1. Hi, !

First off, I am sorry you are dealing with this issue. While the pain you are describing could be related to MS, it could also be related to a number of underlying conditions, so, I suggest talking to your doctor about this. While I don't know if the pain you are describing is a charley horse, I thought this article on nighttime leg pain might be a worthwhile read for you -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/nocturnal-leg-cramps-can-ruin-sleep. Again, if you haven't done so already, I would talk with your doctor. Hopefully, he/she can offer some helpful suggestions! And, I do hope you get some lasting relief from the ache and pain in your calf very soon!
