Propellor sound in my right ear!

For the 6th night in a row now I'm having a propellor sound going round on my right ear. Doesn't happen during the day, only at night when I've eaten and sat watching tv. lf it's due to my MS it's called middle ear myclonus. Has anyone had any experience of this because of MS?

  1. Hi, !

While I have read lots of different stories about members dealing with various hearing issues, but not one quite like yours. If you have any doubts about what is going on, I would definitely talk to your doctor about it (if you haven't done so already). Do you think it could be tinnitus? While most people associate tinnitus with a high pitched ringing noise, the sound people experience can vary -- https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/tinnitus. Also, I wanted to share this article by one of our contributors about myoclonus, as I thought you might find it relateable -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/living-with-ms/hiding-sound. There are a number of community member comments at the end of the article that you might want to check out as well.

I hope this information helps and that this particular issue goes away as quickly as it came!

    1. Thanks for your reply Erin. Just had 3 night's off from the sound in my ear but it's back again!

      1. , oh, goodness. I'm sorry it's back. I occasionally deal with tinnitus and when it comes back, my heart just sinks and I want to cry sometimes.

I really, really hope this symptom goes away and STAYS away for you!
