Facial pain

I recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and I am just learning a lot about it but I recently had a flare and had extreme facial pain only on one side of my face does anyone else experience this and what do you do to help with the pain the pain becomes severe thank you

  1. It’s so overwhelming trying to learn about MS while being recently diagnosed. The one-sided facial pain you’re describing sounds a lot like trigeminal neuralgia, which some people with MS do experience. It can be incredibly intense and hard to manage. You can read more about this here- https://multiplesclerosis.net/symptoms/pain-chronic-pain. Here’s another link where members share similar experiences and how they’ve managed the pain- https://multiplesclerosis.net/forums/trigeminal-neuralgia-experiences. Lastly, quick question—did your doctor suggest any treatment options when you were first diagnosed? If they haven’t heard about this symptom yet, I’d recommend bringing it up with them. Hoping you find some relief soon! Kindly, Latoya (Team Member)
