Is it possible to have MS with only brain lesions?

Has anyone else been diagnosed with MS without any spine lesions?
I have a few lesions on my brain but my spine looked clear. I’m curious if anyone else has a similar experience or how common this is?

  1. Yes it is definitely possible to have MS w/o any spinal lesions. Some people with MS have one or two lesions in their brain.

    1. Though my brain was 93 percent covered with MS lesions, my spinal tap came back normal back in late 2019. I was diagnosed with the MS back in July 28th 2019. I had ALL the symptoms. I've had and still have a herniated disc in my lower back from an offshore drilling accident back in 1997. Somehow I developed a pinched nerve on the back of my neck, degenerative disc disorder, osteoarthritis everywhere and chronic back pain 24/7, cervical spondylosis, and carpinal on my left wrist somewhere around 2020.

      1. Hi, ! As other members have already commented, it is possible to have MS with no spinal lesions. It's a bit uncommon, but as more research is done and we learn more about MS, we're learning it's maybe not as uncommon as once thought. I also wanted to share a conversation on this topic from a few years back that you might find interesting -- https://multiplesclerosis.net/forums/spinal-lesions. I hope this (and the other members' helpful replies) helps answer your question and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions!

        1. Yes, I have MS and have 2 brain lesions, a major.one between and encompassing both optic nerves and a very small one in my white matter. I have the ogliocytes in my sf. I do have major spinal issues, disclosures issues, spondylosis, etc but no lesions
